Getting to Know Our Herbal Blends: Happy Gut

Happy gut was inspired by a need to find a natural way to heal from the roots within. In this blog we will discuss the highlight of this herbal tea blend, Dandelion root and 5 other herbs, their possible benefits and the birth of Happy Gut.

What Inspired Happy Gut?

As someone struggling at a young age to "release the toxins" (TMI!!) from my body, I've always looked for ways to include some type of natural fiber into my diet. Having used more over the counter common fiber releasing methods, I switched to herbalism for more of a natural way of how to treat my digestive issues. For myself, I struggled with an unhappy gut, constipation, tiredness and constant acne and stress, until I conducted more research as an herbal student. I spoke with a family member of mine and she knew that I was studying herbalism (an intense 1200 hour course by the way) and if I'd be willing to be a part of her program Acne Relief and Wellness Program. I had already made some tea blends just sharing it with local friends and family, but this was really an opportunity for me to make a change, see the fruits of my labor and actually begin putting more of my purpose into practice. And here it was, the beginning of how Happy Gut's story started. I began working with B-Unique Beauty LLC, a small business focused on the well being of its clients internally and externally. To explain further, Kayla Boddy Owner and Holistic esthetician is the owner of B-unique Beauty LLC. In business for almost 8+ years, Kayla’s altruistic ways made her question deeper than the surface of what may be going on with clients to curate a program that uniquely benefits each person at the root of the matter, hence why I believe her business name is “B-UNIQUE BEAUTY”.

I spoke with Kayla for several months trying to understand her overall goal and reasoning for a herbal tea blend to be a part of her program and the benefits she was looking to achieve naturally. As an herbal student, I quickly began referencing many of my herbal resources that had to do with gut health, bloating, stomach irritation and stomach soothing due to many of her clients having trouble pushing out the toxins in their bodies possibly causing the ‘acne’.

The Birth of Happy Gut

As I was thinking of a what to put in this unique blend, the first thing that came to mind were the “mints”. Two of our six ingredients are Spearmint and peppermint, which can help aid in digestion and soothe stomach irritation and bloating, but I thought to myself that's not enough, what more can we add to this blend to really gain the benefits that she is looking for?

Kayla and I spoke further and we talked more on the herb Dandelion root and as I conducted more research, the root of dandelion can act as a natural laxative and prebiotic, so I thought to myself this is perfect. From there I added three more herbs that would help with potentially lowering blood sugar and acting as a natural diuretic (dandelion leaf), an herb that can potentially cleanse the blood naturally (burdock root) and an herb that can help boost the immune system and continually cleanse the body (ginger root).

And here it was, July 2025 was the birth of Happy Gut. We are proud to have been selling Happy Gut for the last five months now and we hope you have enjoyed our blog and look forward to hearing your feedback on this herbal tea blend.
